Water-Based Dextrin Adhesives

Moisture-Activated Bonding for Porous and Non-Porous Substrates

Water based adhesives are being used more and more as a replacement for solvent-based products because they are environmentally safe and do not contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Applied as an emulsion (mixture of two or more liquids that are normally non-mixable) the liquids are converted to an adhesive when the water evaporates.

Natural polymers, otherwise known as starches, are used to make some of the oldest types of adhesives in existence today. They are water soluble and a low-cost alternative to resin water-based adhesives.

Water-Based Dextrin Adhesives Provide:

  • Very strong bonds
  • Outstanding flexibility
  • Easy clean up vs. resin-based liquid water-based adhesives
  • Heat and cold resistance
  • Clean machining
  • Low cost vs. resin-based liquid water-based adhesives
  • No cracking on labels when folding or gluing boxes
  • Performs well at high temperatures
  • Adheres to a variety of substrates as well as complex laminates including film/film and film/metalized
  • Resists heat, cold and oxidation , heat, chemical, water and humidity
  • Ages stabily
  • Provides excellent clarity on clear film laminations
  • Sets fast/Non-toxic/Non-flammable
  • No residual odor or taste to contaminate the package contents

Applications:

  • Paper Converting
  • Laminating – Paper to paper
  • Bookbinding
  • Product Assembly
  • Litho Laminating
  • Tube Winding
